Identity of a historic race


The Le Mans 24-hour endurance race celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2023. The perfect opportunity to revisit the graphic identity of the logo, to offer a new and refined reading. Mixing the old with the modern, it expresses the current vision of this race : resolutely looking to the futur and its challenges, while drawing on its history and traditions.

The integration of the double stripe was the major choice in the graphic design of the logo: it forms a unity and merges the design as a whole. It represents the circuit. The asphalt. The markings on the ground. The livery of the Ford GT 40.
Creative process
Sketch and first design of the logo, finally rejected : not easily readable, and irrelevant composition.
During its development I defined the color variants of the logo : blue, red, black.
This is a reference to France, which hosts the event. It is also a reference to the red and white stripes on the circuit edges. All these colors are in desaturated and «vintage» shades.
